Pastor’s Letter – June 2014

Dear Friends in Christ, our Church family,

Time is rapidly approaching for the 75th Anniversary celebration. We will have a worship service at 11:00am with Bishop Leonard Bolick preaching. The liturgy and hymns will be from the Common Service Book just as they were in 1939. Following worship we will gather for a fellowship lunch. We have invited our community to a 2pm service which will consist of scripture, hymns, a rededication of the building and several recollections. Both services will be 90% the same as they were originally. Following the 2pm service we will gather in the Morgan Building for a reception to welcome our friends and share memories through photographs, etc. We will also have live bluegrass music at the reception.

I am asking our members to provide a plate of “finger foods” for the reception. We will have two kinds of punch (lime sherbet with ginger ale and apple cider).

This is only two weeks away and there is much to do to get ready to welcome our bishop and special guests. We ask God to provide some pretty weather on that day.

We are currently developing a Holy Communion web site and will have it up and running shortly. Mark Hartman is doing the lions share of this development and we thank him for it. A web site will put our “face” out there for seekers and others interested in our ministry.

We encourage all our post-high school students to apply for an HCLC scholarship. See Mary Ellen Studsrup for an application. The deadline is July 15.

Yours in Christ’s service,

Pastor David Mielke
